For when it has to ship.
Delivery, Rescue & Modernisation
Stabilising, rescuing and modernising systems against real deadlines.
Some engagements start with a date that can’t move and a system that isn’t ready. I come in, find out what’s really wrong, whether that’s performance, architecture or how the work is organised, and fix the parts that decide whether it ships.
That includes rescuing failing projects, fixing performance and reliability, modernising legacy systems, and cloud migrations that don’t stop the business.
How I work
Short and focused: measure first, fix the biggest constraint, then measure again. I work hands-on alongside your team, so the fix stays in place after I leave.
Where I’ve done it
- A major Greek bank: a mortgage application due to roll out to 300 branches handled 15 concurrent users against a target of 500. Two months before launch, it handled 600 within four weeks.
- BBC News: rebuilt the Tier 1 API behind live text commentary single-handedly before the London 2012 Olympics. It gained twelve times the functionality, served millions of page views a day, and ran for over two years without a restart.
- Shell: set up the technical foundations of a new agile development venture in under three months.
- AWS: helped customers and partners migrate to AWS, including SAP ERP, Java EE estates on IBM and Oracle middleware, an Oracle / Cloudera big data stack, and a data-centre exit of thousands of servers.
Scope
- Failing project rescue
- Performance & reliability remediation
- Legacy modernisation
- Cloud migrations with minimal disruption
- Short, high-impact engagements
- “Get us back on track” interventions
